Alejandro Tabilo Makes History with Maiden ATP Tour Title

Chilean Stuns in Auckland, Rises to Career-High Ranking

Dominant Performance Nets First ATP Crown

Alejandro Tabilo Álvarez, the 26-year-old Chilean tennis star, has etched his name in the history books with his maiden ATP Tour title triumph at the ASB Classic in Auckland. Tabilo's exceptional run saw him drop only one set across six matches, culminating in a dominant victory in the final.

The former Canadian professional tennis player, who holds dual citizenship, has steadily climbed the ATP rankings in recent years, reaching a career-high of World No. 39 on March 4, 2024. His latest triumph in Auckland marks a significant milestone in his professional journey.

Throughout the tournament, Tabilo showcased his versatility and determination. He overcame a tough challenge in the first round, coming back from a set down to defeat No. 3 seed Diego Schwartzman. In the semifinals, he outplayed local favorite Ugo Humbert in straight sets, setting up a thrilling final against Jenson Brooksby.

In the championship match, Tabilo displayed nerves of steel, overcoming Brooksby in a hard-fought three-set battle. The Chilean's powerful serve and relentless baseline game proved too strong for his American opponent, sealing his maiden ATP Tour title with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory.

Tabilo's triumph in Auckland is a testament to his talent and hard work. It also marks a significant moment for Chilean tennis, as he becomes the first Chilean player to win an ATP Tour singles title since Marcelo Ríos in 1999.
