Chelsea Beat Aston Villa 3-0 to Move Level on Points with Manchester United
Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic Score First Stamford Bridge Goals for Blues
Kai Havertz Also on Target as Chelsea Move into Fourth Place
Chelsea moved level on points with Manchester United in the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic scored their first goals for the club, with Kai Havertz also on the scoresheet.
Lukaku opened the scoring in the 15th minute, heading home a cross from Reece James. Kovacic doubled the lead in the 26th minute with a fine strike from outside the box. Havertz made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute, tapping home from close range after a great run and cross from Hakim Ziyech.
Chelsea were in control for most of the match and could have scored more goals. Aston Villa had a few chances, but they were unable to find a way past Chelsea's defense.
The win moves Chelsea into fourth place in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United. Aston Villa remain in 10th place.
Chelsea will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Champions League. Aston Villa will host Manchester United in the Premier League on Monday.
