Ontario Expands Pharmacist Prescribing Powers
Six More Common Ailments Added to the List
Effective January 1, 2023
Ontario is making it easier for people to access healthcare by expanding the prescribing powers of pharmacists. As of January 1, 2023, Ontarians will be able to visit pharmacies across the province to obtain prescriptions for six additional common ailments.
The Ontario government has granted pharmacists the ability to prescribe for a total of 13 common ailments, including minor infections, allergies, and skin conditions. This move is intended to reduce wait times for doctor's appointments and provide more convenient access to healthcare for Ontarians.
